More than 250 Participants of "Silent Actions" Detained in Belarus — Video

According to the Human Rights Centre "Viasna" during the campaign of silent protest, held in all regions of Belarus on June 29, at least 200 people were detained, of which about 160 detainees were from Minsk and at least 90 people - from other Belarusian cities.

Most of the detainees, after being taken to the local police department, were released without a report drawn up, as well as in previous similar events. Nevertheless, some protesters were accused of using foul language and were brought to the administrative liability under Art. 17.1 of the AVC («disorderly conduct»), reported in the human rights center «Viasna.»

The detentions were also carried out in some provincial and district centers, where people came out onto the main squares and streets of their cities. Thus, in Zhodina (Minsk voblast), on one of the detained, Aleksei Lapitski, was drawn up under Art.23.4 of the Administrative Code («Disobedience to lawful demands of the police»). He’s under arrest pending the trial.

According to Telegraf, some reporters, including foreign media, were detained during the silent action of solidarity, organized by an online community «Revolution through social networks» in Minsk on June 29.
