Mosque Building in Minsk Postponed Because of the "Scope of the Project"

The Minsk authorities postponed building a mosque in the city , the Press Secretary of the department of the religions and nationalities affairs Mikhail Rybakov informed. "Practice shows, that the mosque was conceived in a scope, bigger than real possibilities and needs of the Moslems living in Minsk".

«Apparently, scales of this cult building which already is under construction on the street Griboedov, were overestimated», BelTA quotes Mikhail Rybakov.

He noted, that «the state, of course, does not welcome long-term constructions, however it does not wish to create precedent, taking care of building the mosque».

Now in Belarus there are six mosques, four of which are in Hrodna Voblast.
