"Most Active" Persons, Involved in "Case on December 19," were Charged

April 4, Investigative Department of preliminary investigation of Minsk police charged persons, involved in "the case on December 19" — Dmitri Drozd, Vladimir Lobanov, Evgeni Sekret and Sergei Kazakov -   under Part 2 Article 293 of the Belarusian Criminal Code — "Riots." The prosecution was also presented to Vitali Matsukevich.

The listed above are referred to as «the most active participants in the riots.» The latter «has pleaded guilty to inciting the riot participants to break into the Government House, as well as inciting the crowd by aggressive public appeals,» said the Interior Ministry.

Other defendants in the case of the riots — Pavel Vinogradov, Vladimir Homichenko and Oleh Fedorkevich are expected to be charged on Tuesday, April 5.

The Office has stated that the defendants intended to «illegally enter the Government House by inflicting damage to the administrative building of State institutions «Main economic management» of the Office of Presidential Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.»

«According to some media, Oleg and Vladimir Fedorkevich Homichenko were «provocateurs and agents of the Belarusian law enforcement agencies.» «All the facts of their illegal activity and information about their involvement in law enforcement were denied during the investigation,» said the Interior Ministry.

«The investigation finds that the fault of the persons in the alleged acts has been completely confirmed by objective evidence, gathered during criminal investigations and based on the testimony of other defendants, witnesses, photos, videos and other irrefutable evidence,» added to the ministry.

Listed persons and their lawyers will soon get acquainted with materials of criminal cases, which will then be sent to the court.

As Telegraf previously reported, April 4, Dmitri Bondarenko, Sergei Martselev, Pavel Sevyarynets and Irina Khalip were presented with new charges. Now they are accused of organizing and actively participating in «group actions, grossly violating public order with clear disobedience to legal requirements of the authorities, causing disruption to transport, enterprises, institutions and organizations.» They face up to three years imprisonment. Previously, they were accused of organizing riots, entailing up to 15 years imprisonment.

Earlier the KGB claimed that Alex Sherstov, Vitali Matsukevich and Denis Huseltsev were «the most active participants in the riots.» They confessed that of having called on people to storm the building Government House during a rally at Independence Square.
