MPs Adopted Bill of Amnesty at Second Reading

MPs of the House of Representatives adopted on June, 4th at the second reading the bill of amnesty. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, about 2.23 thousand people may be released in amnesty this year from the closed correctional facilities. Almost 900 people may be released from the opened correctional facilities.

According to the bill, the terms of service of sentence of 9.3 thousand people in the closed facilities and 1.1 thousand people in opened facilities will be reduced , BelaPAN informs.

After the bill «Of Amnesty in connection with the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945» was adopted at the first reading on May, 6th,  the head of the parliamentary commission for national safety, Victor Guminsky said, that the document was improved and that the editorial, technical and specifying remarks and offers were taken into account.

Earlier the head of the Ministry for Internal Affairs of Belarus, Anatoly Kuleshov had declared that the purpose of the document is to «realize the principles of humanism to the persons, who started to lead regular life, having commited earlier a crime, which doesn’t constitute a serious public menace».
