National Bank Gets Currency Payments back in Belarus

National Bank has expanded the list of services and goods sold by business entities to individuals, which can be paid in foreign currency with the regulator's permission. The regulator notes in its letter № 31-16/245 of May 25 that this decision was made "adjusted for the need to increase the volume of export currency proceeds."

Now, one can get NBB permission to use foreign currency in calculations in the following areas:

implementation of fuel, oil, liquefied gas at gas stations, tourist activities, provision of services to non-resident individuals in hotel business, providing services to non-resident individuals in health institutions (motels, tourist base), the provision of health services to non-resident individuals, service to non-resident individuals in education, training and skills development; other directions.

In addition, as reported by AFN, the National Bank allows residents to earn foreign currency by wire transfer from abroad for transactions concluded with non-resident individuals, providing for non-residents’ transfer of goods, proprietary information, exclusive rights of intellectual property, rent estate, works and services, alienation of immovable property.
