The representatives of National bank consider that the necessity of increase of financial literacy of Belarusian citizens cannot be put off. It is proposed to develop special government program for this purpose, Sergei Dubkov, the chief of central supervision department and the member of the board of directors of National Bank, said.

«The level of development of market relations and financial discipline will cause in near future a governmental program preparation on increase of financial literacy. It will be provided with the  corresponding human and financial resources», the expert said, BelTA informs.

The detailed analysis of clients’ appeals to National Bank allows to ascertain that «despite the high educational level in the country, level of financial literacy of all the strata of the society both the people in need and wealthy people is rather low», the member of the board of directors of National Bank said. He also stated that this problem «concerns the state administration bodies as well».

So, for example, many clients don’t understand the contractual relations signing with a bank, there is set of questions on issuing and repayment of credits. And since the state is interested in effective long-term cooperation and in prevention of the negative phenomena in the financial market, increase of financial literacy of the population becomes one of the aspects of decrease of undesirable risks, the representative of National Bank explained.

Similar programs operate in many states of Central and the Western Europe with various financial systems, Sergei Dubkov said. He amplified that National Bank hopes for the help of the international financial organizations in program realization in Belarus.
