National Culture is Cornerstone of Independence, Lukashenko

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko considers the national culture as the country's strategic resource and the cornerstone of its independence. This was stated by the Head of State at the awards ceremony "For Spiritual Revival" on January 8.

Alexander Lukashenko is convinced that there can’t be a sovereign and prosperous nation without a national culture,» BelTA informs.

«National culture is now gaining political strength and importance as a reliable guarantor of the people’s identity preservation, the most valuable competitive advantage in the context of globalization,» the president said.

In this regard, Alexander Lukashenko remarks that the main principle of cultural policy in Belarus is not only preservation but also augmentation of spiritual wealth of the people. According to the president, topic of spirituality is getting especially relevant today, as «tomorrow of the state depends on the ideals of today.»

We to Respect Right of Art Masters to Freedom of Thought, Lukashenko

Alexander Lukashenko notes that the State will always «respect the right of the masters of art to freedom of thought and expression.» «But, as great Nekrasov noticed, a poet must first and foremost be a citizen,» the president added.

«You, creative people, should never forget your social, spiritual mission. The country is waiting for your brilliant, large-scale works to bring up people in the spirit of traditional ideals and values, to reflect the positive changes that occur in our lives, to awaken a sense of patriotism and pride for the country in the young hearts,» Alexander Lukashenko said.
