Minsk exchangers of the Belarusian banks still have no currency for sale to the public after the introduction of new rates by the National Bank of Belarus on May 24. Telegraf correspondent walked exchangers in the center of Minsk in search for dollars and euros. No currency turned out to be in exchangers of BPS-Bank, Fransabank, Belarusian People's Bank, Belarusbank, etc. Only a few people can be seen at some of the currency exchangers, while in Belarusbank numerous people queuing up for foreign currency.

People can buy dollars and euros only when purchasing foreign currency by the banks from the population, but people do not rush to sell dollar and euro to banks.

Meanwhile, spokesman of the National Bank Anatoli Drozdov informs that in the near future the regulator has no plans to restore the sale of foreign currency  in commercial banks to reinforce exchangers.

As Telegraf previously reported, May 24, the official dollar rate is Br4.930 after the devaluation, the euro — Br6.914.82, the Russian ruble — Br173.95.

Following devaluation, Belarus’s commercial banks adjusted rates of foreign currencies. Since the National Bank has restored  + / -2% rate fixing limit on May 24, banks have set maximum allowable rates: U.S. dollar — Br5.029, euro — Br7.053, the Russian ruble — Br177.
