The official representative of "Gazprom" Sergei Kupriyanov said on December 29 that the arrangements, regarding the gas prices reduction for Belarus in 2011, were currently unavailable. Nevertheless, Sergei Kupriyanov stressed that the current contract would allow the parties to avoid problems at the beginning of the year.

According to Sergei Kupriyanov, the CES realities will be taken into account in the contracts for 2012-2013. Sergei Kupriyanov said that the contracts would also take into account the fact that Russia had delayed transition to equal gas pricing, though, when signing the contract with Belarus, the transition had been planned for 2011, Echo of Moskow reports.

As Telegraf previously reported, Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko said on December 22 that Moscow and Minsk had already prepared all necessary documents, regulating gas prices for Belarus. However, according to the head of the Russian Ministry of Energy, the possible change in the gas price for Belarus is a «totally commercial matter.»

In turn, «Gazprom» deputy Valeri Golubev said on December 24 that the principle of Russian gas supplies’ pricing for Belarus would be reconsidered in 2012. Moreover, as he says, according to a new formula, the price can be 85% of the price in 2011.
