During a meeting of December 15 on the current presidential campaign and public security at this period, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko urged the police to "act in accordance with the situation." "God forbid for any provocation to happen, let along the people. We must protect the people here; no mercy to anyone," the head of state said.

Addressing the Interior Minister Anatoli Kuleshov, the president said that the response of law enforcement and military towards provocations must be «adequate and rigid.» «Vade in pace (the protesters) where you can go, to the specified location. Go, talk, protest — you’re welcome. But if it is a violation of the law, the response should be adequate then,» the President said.

Alexander Lukashenko instructed the Secretary of State of Security Council of Belarus Leonid Maltsev to coordinate law enforcement activities. «No fuss should be made, no unnecessary movements. You are well aware that if these «masters» (the opposition) were capable of anything, they would have taken a different path. They are just trying to provoke us. We are very much aware of it,» the President said.

Opposition to Hide Behind Teenagers’ Backs, Lukashenko

As reported in the Administration of President, Alexander Lukashenko is convinced that the opposition will not be able to bring the people at a rally on the square. «People needs no Square. Everyone realizes that kids, teenagers will be forced forward, while they (the organizers) will be hiding, as usual, behind their backs, or run away, as they’ve always been doing. Even the teenagers are well aware,» the head of state.

«We have enough energy and resources to deal with these vacillation and confusion in a civilized and reasonable way. With today’s strength of power, there is no need to apply some methods of emergency. But anyway we have to be ready for everything,» the President stressed.

Everyone was Warned about Illegality of Square Rally, Lukashenko

At the same time Alexander Lukashenko demanded the police «not to succumb to provocations.» «Naturally, they (the opposition) are shouting all the time: «The Square, the Square, the Square! (Square, Square, Square! — Telegraf). «I want to say again: we have warned parents, we’ve warned the teachers of universities, technical schools, colleges, high schools, schools. We have warned about possible provocations that could take place on this day, including in crowded places. We have warned everyone. There is law. No way should one succumb to provocations because they (the opposition) want a picture, at least now, the picture of such «undemocratic» power, of Lukashenko «having come to power with blood again» (come to power — Telegraf).» They need it. We should not expose ourselves. We are very much aware of it. No way should we expose ourselves,» the head of state said.

At the same time Alexander Lukashenko pointed out that one could not unconditionally believe the information about violations during the early voting, provided by the so-called opposition media.» «They’re acting the way we’ve expected them to do. They are now putting the blame on the managers of enterprises, institutions and organizations for making people vote in advance,» the president said.

Lukashenko Instructed to Verify Information about Early Voting Violations

In this regard, the Head of State appealed to Alexander Radzkou, the head of the national headquarters of presidential candidate, and a headquarters’ member Viktor Sheiman to check the information about violations, which had appeared in the media.

«Make everything clear in the headquarters, please. If people can not vote on December 19, ask them to come for early voting, that’s it. People have already defined whom to support. We are (ten candidates) unable to change anything. People have already decided. So we should give them the opportunity to quietly come and vote. It is our task, the task of power, all power,» the president said.
