Director of pricing policy department of Ministry of Economy, Igor Fomin, stated that the increase from June 1 of the first tariff rate for public sector employees would not affect the increase in prices in the country.

«There is such a thing as deferred demand. We do not predict some kind of sharp price increase in this regard. I think that the situation will be regulated by the market. I do not suppose that the sellers will inflate. There is no reason to do this», BelTA quotes Igor Fomin.

The representative of the department said that in January-May of this year, the inflation in the country amounted to 4%. However, according to his words, at present there is some deflation on such a position as fruits and vegetables.

At the same time, there registered a slight increase in prices of dairy products, semi-prepared foods, sausages. It occurs due to an increase in purchasing prices of milk, beef, pork, the official from Ministry of Economy noted.

An increase of energy costs as well as inflationary expectations of population is another important factor, influencing the rise in prices, Igor Fomin explained.

As a good example of the mentioned, the official named the expectation of cars’ prices increase within the Customs Union. In anticipation of cars import duties growth, Belarusian population began to bring them massively into the country. Car prices were inflated, but due to changes in the situation they began to decline and stabilize again», the representative of Ministry of Economy explained.

Igor Fomin considers the situation with pricing in the country as stable and controlled in general.
