President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said on December 16 that observers should not interfere with the electoral process. According to the Belarusian leader, foreign observers, arrived for the upcoming elections, "surprise" him a lot. "They, you know, feel almost like masters at the presidential election, although they are just observers," the President said.

«They have to observe the elections and draw conclusions. It is not their business — to consider. They need to characterize the election process itself,» Alexander Lukashenko said.

According to the president of Belarus, «there’s only one muster at the polling station — chairman of the commission.» «Everything will be the way he decides. No one can come and give orders. There is law, and the chairman and members of the electoral commission must abide by this law,» the Belarusian leader said, urging the chairmen of election commissions «not to let anyone come to photograph, seal, sign and so on.»

Opposition Trying to Bribe Members of Election Commissions, Lukashenko

The President also reported that observers from the opposition were trying to provoke the members of electoral commissions to violate the elections. «They need provocation. They understand that, they are most likely win nothing in this election, so they need provocations,» Alexander Lukashenko explained his point of view.

«There are concrete facts, and we’ll talk about them although without much pleasure and willingness. We’ll also talk about the attempts to bribe members of the commission and to provoke something on the square and so on. Let them not move backwards, we know the facts. If they dare to do it — they’ll wish it had never happened!» President of Belarus warned.
