Ukraine is planning to transit 80 thousand tons of Venezuelan oil to the Mozyr refinery by Odessa — Brody oil pipeline in November 2010. As the Minister of Fuel and Energy Yuriy Boyko explains, it's going to be a trial run. The minister also stressed that it's not a replacement of a rail transit, but its addition.

According to Yuriy Boyko, the Ukrainian side takes into account the fact that Belarus plans to increase its purchases of Venezuelan oil, RIA Novosti news agency. Thus, this year Belarus plans to buy four million tons of Venezuelan oil and up to nine million tons next year.

As Telegraf reported, this September, Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky reassured the Ukrainian side at a meeting with First Vice Prime Minister Andrii Kliuyev that Belarus would supply the necessary volume of oil to run the Odessa-Brody pipeline in reverse mode in 2011.

Draft agreement between the governments of Belarus and Ukraine to transport nine million tons of Venezuelan oil to Belarus in 2011 was passed at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on September 29. The current tariff for transportation of Venezuelan oil from Odessa to Belarusian refineries is $0.27 per ten tons per 100 kilometers.
