On Thursday, March 25, Belarusian opposition celebrates Dzen Voli - the anniversary of the proclamation of Belarusian People's Republic's independence. The action began at 06:00 p.m. on the ground near the Academy of Sciences. By this time, there were about 300-350 people at the place of gathering, but people continued to come.
Approximately half an hour before the action started, the police had detained a car with sound amplifying equipment. In response, one of the action’s organizers, Viktar Ivashkevich, said that he disclaimed the responsibility for the action, because without this equipment he can not guide the activity of the participants, BelaPAN reports.
In their turn, police representatives said that all protesters must leave the ground near the Academy of Sciences at 06:30 p.m. and move to Bangalore square, as it was previously authorized by Minsk City Executive Committee.
Dzen Voli organizers repeated many times that they are not going to Bangalore square this year and intended to march to Yanka Kupala Park, holding a meeting there.
