On Wednesday, February 16, there was a regular meeting of the opposition organizing committee for the Freedom Day celebration in Minsk on March 25. The participants of the meeting agreed to undertake joint action, which is planned to be started on Yakub Kolas Square. In this regard, it is planned to file a joint statement to the Minsk City Executive Committee.
«This is a very positive fact, which shows that we are able to come to consensus. Now is not the place for political PR, but the time for solidarity and unity, the joint struggle for the liberation of prisoners,» — said Vital Rymasheuski, co-chairman of the unregistered party the Belarusian Christian Democracy, who also took part in the meeting.
According to him, «it is not a gathering place fundamental for BChD, but the fact that the action should showed the unity of democratic forces», the press service of the party informed.
As Telegraf informed, previously the opposition failed to agree on joint action on March 25. Organization «Young Front» intended to march from the Freedom Square to Independence Square, all the other members of the committee wanted to go from the Academy of Sciences to Yanka Kupala Park.
