Belarusian society has become more liberal. This opinion was expressed by the chairman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, Lydia Yermoshina. "Our elections are more like that we see in foreign movies", Lydia Yermoshina said.

«The members of electoral commissions admit that it is increasingly difficult to talk with potential candidates. They know the law, placing more demands, acting more aggressive», BelTA quotes the head of the CEC.

According to Lydia Yermoshina, during the last election campaign to local councils, the number of candidates increased, a larger number of political parties nominated their representatives, and, however, numerical representation of political parties increased in election commissions.

According to latest data of the CEC, in Belarus, there are 21 thousand 288 elected deputies of local councils who are to work in 1495 councils at various levels. It’s necessary to hold re-elections in 15 constituencies, they are mostly rural and village councils, where the deputies were not elected since at the election there was no real alternative and candidates was not supported by more than half of the voters.
