During a meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyubov President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko thanked the Azerbaijanian side for its support in the energy sector. "Our independence and our sovereignty are, unfortunately, hampered today by these ill-fated energy utilities and raw materials — that is our economy. And you backed us last year," said the Belarusian leader.
«We now recycle Azerbaijanian oil of high quality. You protected us and saved our independence and sovereignty, so did Venezuela,» said President of Belarus.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that Belarus and Azerbaijan interact closely with each other in «very sensitive areas,» BelTA informs.
We have to Respond Azerbaijan in Good Way, Lukashenko
«We have no closed topics in our relations there. Despite all talk about our relations with Azerbaijan, including the CSTO and other structures, you are the country that supported us in difficult moments. We are obliged to respond in a good way,» the president said.
According to the Belarusian leader, Yaqub Eyyubov personally as well as the Azerbaijanian government have done a lot for the development of bilateral trade and economic relations. «I could not but accepted you. It would simply be dishonorably of me,» said the president.
Alexander Lukashenko also emphasized that the relationship between the two countries are based on «good feelings towards each other. » According to the President, very good and warm relations are established with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. He also asked to convey to Ilham Aliyev that Belarus will be true to the agreements, reached during the recent visit of the Belarusian President in Baku.
We’re Worried about Economy of Azerbaijan, Lukashenko
«We are worried about you starting from the economy snd ending with «Eurovision,» said Alexander Lukashenko. He believes that the victory of Azerbaijan at the international song contest «Eurovision-2011» indicates a high level of culture of the country and its compliance with the European culture.
«You can adapt, to perform in a peculiar way, untypical of the Azerbaijanian people, but you can if it’s a must. This is a very high level, I appreciate it very much,» said President of Belarus.
In turn, Yaqub Eyyubov conveyed fraternal greetings from President Ilham Aliyev to Alexander Lukashenko.
