Over Three Quarters Belarusian Gold Reserves Increased by 8.5%, National Bank

According to the preliminary data of the Belarusian National Bank, the volume of international reserve assets of Belarus has risen by $506.7 million, or 8.5% over the first three quarters of 2010. Thus, the gold and currency reserves (GCR) of the country have reached the equivalent of $6.4 billion.

In determining the special data dissemination, standard rate of gold reserves of Belarus increased by $332.3 million (5.9%) and amounted to the equivalent of $5.9 billion.

As National Bank reports, the main sources of the international reserves increase during this period were funds received from the International Monetary Fund, the sale of «Beltransgaz» shares, Belarus placement of Eurobonds in the international market, as well as the domestic market operations of National Bank.

The National Bank also explained that the current size of reserves allows the National Bank of Belarus to ensure stability of the national currency dynamics within the main directions of the monetary policy of Belarus for 2010.
