Pastavy "Beholder" Yanukovich Is Imprisoned for 23 Years

Mogilev Regional Court has sentenced "beholder" of Pastavy district, Mikhail Yanukovich, and his two accomplices, Oleg Zubkevich and Andrei Lukyanov. For the murder of two previously convicted Pastavy residents, committed during gangster shootouts in 2007, Mikhail Yanukovich and Oleg Zubkevich are sentenced to 23 years' imprisonment, Andrei Lukyanov — to 13.

Officers of the head department for combating organized crime and corruption of Interior Ministry found out that one of the criminals in the guise of re-sale of land decoyed two previously convicted persons on an abandoned farmstead near the border with Lithuania. There, his accomplices shot the buyers from ambush using hunting rifle and small-caliber handgun. The criminals buried the bodies in the wood near Novoselki-2 village, Pastavy district, reported in Interior Ministry.

Investigators also found that the gang of Yanukovich was engaged in extortion, fraud, looting, and was also «roofing» some commercial structures. Later, police officers detained eight gang members more. All of them are staying in remand prison № 1 of Department of Corrections for Minsk region and the city of Minsk.

The investigation of criminal activity of Pastavy gang involves the General Prosecutor’s Office of Belarus and GUBOPiK of MIA. Investigators ask citizens, affected by the actions of these people, contact the phone number 8-029-638-07-72 and 8-029-673-07-50.
