The representatives of the National bank informed on June, 9th that people's deposits grew in January-May, 2010 almost by 1,9 billion roubles (10,4 %) and June, 1st exceeded for the first time the boundary in 20 billion roubles (about 6,6 billion dollars).
«Deposits for the past five months have increased in national currency almost on 1,65 billion roubles, or by 20,6 %, and they amounted more than 9,6 billion roubles. Deposits in foreign currency have decreased by 81,5 million dollars, or by 2,3 %, and on June, 1st they amounted 3,46 billion dollars», the representatives of the main bank of the country informed.
Thus, in May foreign currency deposits decreased by 74,8 million dollars, or by 2,1 %, and national currency deposits increased last month by more than 383 billion roubles, or by 4,1 %.
«It testifies to growth of the people’s confidence in national currency and bank system as a whole, and also in the interest rate policy of National bank. The rouble deposits interest rates are still attractive. They essentially exceed both the inflation rate, and profitableness of savings in foreign currency», the representatives of National Bank informed.
«The National Bank will continue to carry out weighed interest rate policy to maintain profitableness of national currency savings and expand availability of credit resources», the representatives of the main bank of the country said.
