Belarus will join neither the European Union nor any other state. This was stated by Alexander Lukashenko on June 17 at a conference for the Belarusian media. "You do not want to be part of Russia? Or the EU, the Baltic states? Neither do I. You can be part of any other state or the EU, but without me," he said.
«I want us to find happiness here. Such policies and independence cost a lot. If you are not ready to pay, say it — 90% of the population. When I say about happiness on our own land — most of society supports it. You want to live on your own land, and there will be no other policies,» said the president.
According to him, Russia agreed to reduce the gas price for Belarus to the level of prices for Smolensk region, if the Republic of Belarus joins the Russian Federation in its composition. «Maybe they’re right. But we will pay $250 per thousand cubic meters. There are options. We have chosen this path. You want to follow another way — go on, but without me,» said Alexander Lukashenko.
Regarding the change of power, the President said: «If someone is so eager to try, time will come for you to try. But will you be able to hold the country with another man?»
