Presidential Election to Be Called for Mid-December, Janukievic

Chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front Alaksiej Janukievic is assured that the extraordinary session of the Belarusian parliament will be convened on September, 7th only to approve the date of the presidential election. According to the oppositionist, MPs will call the election for mid-December.

«I am assured that the election date was determined long ago. Everything is being prepared for mid-December. The government did not want to give enough time neither to the opposition, nor Russia, therefore, they drove the election date announcing. Everyone agrees that the election will be scheduled for mid-December, nearly new year,» Alaksiej Janukievic said, the Belarusian partisan informs.

However, as Telegraf informed, Viktar Ivashkevich, chairman of the BPF Minsk City Organization, believes that the Belarusian authorities have not yet determined the date of presidential elections in the country.

Fifth Extraordinary Session of the House of Representatives of the fourth convocation will start its work on September 7, 2010. The relevant decree was signed by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko.
