Prices Growth on Meat, Milk and Vodka in Belarus

From July 16, Belarus' Ministry of Economy increased the retail price of vodka and selling prices on dairy products, beef and pork by 3%. Relevant decisions were made by Economy Ministry according to the proposals of Belgospishcheprom and the Ministry of Agriculture and Foodstuffs.

As stated in the decree of the Ministry of Economy № 116 from July 12, 2010 «On making amendments in resolution of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus № 145 from August 24, 2009 «, besides the price of vodka in standard reusable glass containers there will be also increased minimum selling prices on other sorts of alcohol products, stronger than 28%.

In addition, the ministry decided to equalize retail prices on some items of vodka in connection with improving their production technology and quality characteristics.

The decision to raise selling prices on meat and dairy products was adopted by the Ministry of Economy «for phased compensation of price increase on dairy and meat primary products due to the growth of purchase prices on milk, cattle and pigs», reads the decision № 115 from July 12 «On making changes and additions in the decree of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus № 114 from May 28, 2009».

«By the decree from July 16, 2010 there raised maximum selling prices on milk, kefir, sour cream, cottage cheese by 3%, beef — by 3%, pork — by 2%», informed in Economy Ministry.
