Problem of Car Duties in Customs Union is Definitively Solved, Shuvalov

The First Deputy Prime minister of Russia Igor Shuvalov informed on July, 1st that the countries of the Customs Union had definitively solved the problem of duties on cars import by physical persons. As he said, exception on this question for Belarus and Kazakhstan which Minsk and Astana asked earlier will remain in the Customs Union after July, 1st.

«These cars cannot get in the Russian market. Those citizens of Belarus and Kazakhstan who buy such cars are only proprietors of these cars. They can personally cross customs border and visit territory of the Russian Federation, but they can transfer the cars by proxy or alienate them, only paying the corresponding customs duties», Igor Shuvalov said, RIA Novosti informs.

Besides, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister informed, that the customs control of other goods regulated by the special protective, compensatory and antidumping procedures would remain in the Customs union.

The representatives of the State customs committee of Belarus stated earlier that the existing rates of import duties on cars for individuals can be preserved in Belarus until 2012.

In turn, Deputy Economic Development Minister of Russia, Andrei Slepnev, stated that low import duties on cars for individuals in Belarus and Kazakhstan would be used no more than one year. Deputy head of the Russia’s MED, named July 1, 2011 as the date of its increase to the Russia’s level.
