Putin Demands Sidorsky to Compromise within the Customs Union

Russian Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin, at the opening of the EurAsEC Interstate Council's session, which acts as the supreme body of the Customs Union, stated that the parties will have to compromise while forming the CU. According to the Russian prime minister, it is conditional on the start of the process of creating the Customs Union's legal framework.

As head of Russian government told, in total it should be prepared 18 project documents, eight of them have already been approved by the Commission of the Customs Union, three more are coming, BelTA informs.

In general, Vladimir Putin expressed his satisfaction with «high temps of joint work on forming the Customs Union». «The Union develops into a purely economic form, becomes the new geopolitical reality», the prime minister said.

«The Customs Union was launched with considerable success. All its mechanisms are working normally, although to implement such a large project in a short time is not easy. But we can find outcomes and mutually satisfactory solutions», Russian prime minister said.

In his turn, Prime Minister of Belarus, Sergei Sidorsky, noted that the favorable conditions to solve contentious issues in the Customs Union are worked out in the process of experts’ work.

«It is important that today we are going to create a unified customs tariff, common customs territory, and there is expert’s desire to bring the positions maximally closer and work without limitations and exceptions», Belarusian premier stressed.

Sergei Sidorsky also added that the heads of governments have the opportunity to «work more smoothly and make more weighed decisions» thanks to the fact that the understanding on many issues are found by vice premiers.
