Real Wages Fell by 13.5% since Year's Beginning, Belstat

The real wage in Belarus (adjusted for inflation) declined in February by 0.6% after a 12.9% decline in January. Nominal gross average monthly salary amounted to Br1.43 million (about $474) in February and increased by 2.1% (29.7 thousand) against January. This was reported in the National Statistics Committee of Belarus.

According to the National Statistics Committee, the industry average wages amounted to Br1.57 million, construction — Br1.66 million, transport and communication — Br1.56 million, agriculture, hunting and forestry — Br949 thousand, education — Br1.21 million, including teachers — Br1.44 million, the faculty — 2.19 million.

Salaries of health workers and social services amounted to Br1.22 million in February this year, including health care — Br1.25 million. Average salary of doctors amounted to Br2.15 million, the nursing staff — Br1.19 million, according to the statistics.

As Telegraf previously reported, the average salary reached $500 in equivalent at the end of last year, as was promised by the Belarusian authorities. According to the National Statistics Committee, the gross average wage of workers was Br1.6 million (about $530) in Belarus in December 2010.
