The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) on Freedom Dunja Mijatovic believes that recorded television broadcast of the presidential candidates' debate does not violate the freedom of speech principles. "Both the live broadcast and the recorded translation is a normal journalistic practice," the OSCE representative said.

«Clearly, the debates are better to broadcast live. Then, a certain impression of reality is created in the air. It is also important not to edit the recorded debate,» Dunja Mijatovic explained, Telegraf .

However, Dunja Mijatovic believes it a positive phenomenon to organize a televised debate for the presidential candidates on the Belarusian television during the election campaign. «It’s a small, but very significant step on the way to a media freedom,» the OSCE representative said.

At the same time, during a meeting with the CEC head of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina, which was held on October 26, Dunja Mijatovic expressed her concern that NGOs do not participate in the work of the supervisory board of media disputes. «I consider it a mistake,» the OSCE representative said.
