Retail Trade Fell by 3.5% in February, BelStat

According to data of the National Statistic Committee, retail trade turnover in Belarus decreased by 3,5% in February 2010 comparing to January of this year.  Within two months of this year the trade turnover was 9.14 trillion. rubles, or 11,1% more compared to the same period of 2009.

Forecast of socio-economic development of Belarus for 2010 envisages an increase in retail turnover by 14-15%, AFN reports.

As previously reported by Telegraf, according to the data published on January 12 by the National Statistical Committee, most of the planned indicators of socio-economic development of the country were not implemented in 2009. 

The gross domestic product amounted to 100,2% in 2008, while the forecast was about 10-12%.Transportation of goods decreased by 4,9% (in 2008 increased by 10,9%). Retail turnover rose by 3% (forecast — 16-17% in 2008 — 19,2%).

Retail turnover of roadside service in Belarus in 2009 decreased by 8,5% in comparison with 2008, and amounted to 1.74 trillion rubles. The share of roadside service retail turnover  in the total retail turnover of trade organizations amounted to 4,4%.
