In Belarus, the retirement age will not increase. It was reported on September 13 by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, at a meeting with the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FPB), Leonid Kozik. "There are no talks about it", the head of state noted. Alexander Lukashenko and Leonid Kozik discussed several issues related to working and recreation conditions.

The head of state and FPB chairman examined the functioning of contract system of employment in the country. According to Leonid Kozik, speculation on the issue ended when taking decision on possible workers’ transition from employment contracts to long-term or open-ended employment contract, because now one can choose the most acceptable conditions of employment. Furthermore, Alexander Lukashenko offered FPB in conjunction with the government to develop instructions and normative legal documents necessary for the improvement of these procedures, as well as to continue monitoring this issue among employees, reported in the presidential press service.

The head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus reported that in Belarus there left a few dozen enterprises where people work part-day and part-week. At the same time, according to him, the situation has dramatically improved compared to 2009. He also stressed that FPB had done a lot to develop a system of child health improvement and, in particular, the state of children’s health institutions in the country.

Furthermore, Leonid Kozik informed about the readiness for the sixth Congress of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus scheduled for September 15-16. According to the FPB chair, almost half of delegates are city and village workers. Alexander Lukashenko said that representatives of all levels of the population should participate in examining issues urgent for society. Leonid Kozik also handed the president — who is a delegate of the congress — an invitation and materials for the event.
