Revival of the Soviet GTO Badge in Belarus

Analog of the Soviet GTO badge (rus. "Gotov k Trudu I Oborone" — "Ready for Labor and Defense") may soon appear in Belarus. It was reported by a leading specialist of the Physical Education department of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, Natalia Bataeva. "Now there is competition for the best design of the badge, which will last until April 30", she said. 

According to Natalya Bataeva, there will be also adopted «public sports and recreation complex, something like GTO norms» in Belarus, informs BelTA.

«Today, more than 1.5 million Belarusian citizens — 70% of whom are the younger generation — visit different centers and sports complexes. 172 sport and active associations and 48 sports and recreation complexes service them. We also try to attract difficult teens to various sports clubs», informed Natalia Bataeva.

Specialist of the Physical Education department of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism also reminded that, last year, «not only the population of the cities but also of rural areas were actively involved in go in for sports». «It became possible thanks to the fact that local authorities assigned transport to bring people to the sports facilities», summarized Natalia Bataeva.
