Ruble Rate to Fluctuate Moderately in 2011, National Bank

Chairman of the National Bank of Belarus Petr Prokopovich assured President Alexander Lukashenko in his report that there won't be sharp fluctuations of the ruble rate at the end of 2010 and in 2011. According to the NBB head, the exchange rate will fluctuate moderately.

Petr Prokopovich also noted that stability of the Belarusian ruble has been well proved this year. According to him, the fluctuations of the national currency against a currency basket were within 5% (1% towards strengthening and 4% towards cost reduction), BelTA informs.

The fact that the ruble will remain stable at the end of 2010 and throughout 2011, according to chairman of the National Bank, is confirmed by the growth of gold and currency reserves of Belarus. The international reserve assets to the national definition were $6.365 billion on November 1, 2010, which is almost $400 million more than at the beginning of the year. Such GCR situation will continue until the end of 2010, Petr Prokopovich assured.
