Russia's permanent representative to the EU Vladimir Chizhov said that Moscow, as well as Brussels, was dissatisfied with the developments in Belarus. "And we've been openly talking about this directly with our Belarusian colleagues and friends," the Russian diplomat said.

However, according to the Russian side, the path of sanctions on Belarus, chosen by Europe and the U.S. to exert pressure on the country’s authorities, is counterproductive, «Interfax.»

«The way of restrictive measures is not the way to follow,» said Vladimir Chizhov.

As Telegraf previously reported, legal process over the two Russian citizens, Artem Breusov and Ivan Gaponov, accused of involvement in the riots at Independence Square in Minsk on Election Day of December 19, 2010, began at the court of the Moscow district in Minsk on February 22. The Russian citizens pleaded not guilty.

As a result of the hearing of the defendants’ testimony, police officers as witnesses, along with the video and photo materials of the case, the court postponed the final verdict until March 1 at the request of the prosecution. During this time the prosecutor intends to incriminate the citizens of Russia anew, but the character of new charges remains unknown.
