Russia intends to continue the process of accession to the WTO outside the frames of the Customs Union with Belarus and Kazakhstan. It was reported in Washington by first vice-premier of Russia, Igor Shuvalov. "Russia firstly intends to access the World Trade Organization itself, and then create a common market within the Customs Union with Belarus and Kazakhstan", he said.

According to Igor Shuvalov, Russia to complete the formalities for its membership separately. «It’ll be useful for everybody if Russia becomes a WTO member before we create a common market with Kazakhstan and Belarus», ITAR-TASS quotes the words of deputy head of Russian government.

Thus, Moscow has revised its attitude towards the accession to the WTO. Previously, it was assumed that the member-countries of the Customs Union will join an organization together.

The governmental delegation of Russia, headed by first deputy prime-minister, Igor Shuvalov, on Tuesday, April 27, will have talks on Russia’s admission to the WTO in Washington.
