Russia Satisfied with Sentence upon Breus and Gaponov

Russia was positive to the sentence upon its citizens Artem Breus and Ivan Gaponov. This was stated by the spokesman of the Russian Embassy in Belarus Vadim Gusev on March 10. "Overall, we are satisfied with the sentence and the release of Breus and Gaponov from custody," he said. 

«I want to emphasize that neither Breus, nor Gaponov acknowledged their guilt, and the Russian side took a clear position from the outset — immediate release of two Russian citizens,» said Vadim Gusev, RIA «Novosti» news agency.

As Telegraf previously reported, the trial against citizens of Russia Artem Breus and Ivan Gaponov — figures in the case of December 19 — ended in court of the Moscow district of Minsk on March 10. The court found Russians guilty under Art. 293 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Belarus and sentenced each of them to a fine of 300 basic units (Br10.5 million, or about $3.47 thousand), after which they were released from custody in the courtroom.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Italy Discussed Situation in Belarus

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Italy Alfredo Mantica met on March 10.

«During the meeting they discussed a number of international issues, in particular, the situation in South Caucasus, including the recent international discussions on security and stability in the Caucasus, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the situation around Belarus,» the Russian Foreign Ministry.
