Russian Foreign Minister Demands to Release Russians, Detained in Belarus.

State Secretary — Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Grigori Karasin held a telephone conversation with the ambassador of Belarus in Moscow Vasili Dolgolev on December 27. During the conversation, he stressed that "the Russian side insists on the immediate release of the Russian citizens, detained in Minsk on December 19."

As it became known to Telegraf, according to the Russian side, delaying resolution of the issue affects the overall atmosphere of bilateral relations.

As reported, on Monday, December 27 Minsk City Court refused to release Alexander Baranov — the first of the Russian citizens, detained in Belarus during an unsanctioned street rally on December 19 on the day of presidential elections. The Russian citizen had been arrested for ten days. The court did not grant his request to reduce the sentence to the one, actually served.
