Russian television issued another negative assessment of the incumbent president of Belarus in the run-up to the elections. At this time one of the Russian central TV channels criticized  Alexander Lukashenko for his another attempt to run for presidency. However, Russian journalists miscounted his rivals in the elections, having reported 10 opposition candidates in Belarus today.

However, only 10 candidates, including incumbent President, claim for the presidency in the upcoming elections in Belarus. The report doesn’t specify who else, besides the nine alternate candidates, was enlisted by the Russian press in the ranks of the opposition to Alexander Lukashenko.

The report describes the pre-election situation in the country in a rather negative way, sarcastically referring to supporters of the incumbent president of Belarus as «lukashisty».

According to Telegraf, Alexander Lukashenko told Russian press  at the end of the CSTO summit in Moscow on December 10 that his relationship with the Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev, despite the rumors, had never been spoiled. «We’ve never quarreled with Medvedev,» Alexander Lukashenko said.

However, a series of controversial video «Godbatska» of the Russian TV channel NTV caused the information war of the Russian media against the Belarusian leadership and contributed to the deterioration of relations between the two heads of state.

Alexander Lukashenko could not ignore the information attacks and repeatedly stated that the Russian media’s negative reports had been sanctioned by the Russian leadership, including Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. However, Alexander Lukashenko is convinced that «dirty anti-Belarusian propaganda, carried out in Russia, has the opposite effect.»
