In Belarus, on cigarette packs there may soon appear frightening images, illustrating smoking consequences for human health. It was said by deputy chief physician of the Republican Center of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health, Lyudmila Naroychik. According to the specialist, the experience of other countries shows the effectiveness of such images, which encourage smokers to quit bad habit.
«With respect to the sale of cigarettes, Ministry of Public Health’s position is clear: the form must correspond to the content. Scary pack is nothing but health prognosis for a smoker. In some Western countries such cigarettes are already in sale», Lyudmila Naroychik said, Medvestnik informs.
Moreover, according to the specialist, Ministry of Public Health plans to apply to the Council of Ministers with specific proposals to make amendments to the existing legislation to toughen measures of struggle against tobacco.
«In urban areas there should increase a number of zones free from smoking. The maximum goal is to declare entire villages free from tobacco. We must achieve higher taxes and prices on cigarettes», the deputy chief physician of RTsGiOZ noted.
