Leader of European Belarus civil campaign, Andrei Sannikov, comment on statement made by Alexander Lukashenko on April 20, that the president of Kyrgyzstan, Kurmanbek Bakiyev, is in Minsk. "The secret airlift of fugitive dictator Bakiyev from Kazakhstan to Minsk is a shame for Belarus", the politician said.

«Lukashenko’s love for outcasts is clear, but Bakiyev’s staying in the country will do only harm and shame for Belarusians», Andrei Sannikov said in an interview to the Charter 97 press center. Lukashenko has managed to create a conflict with Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Russia with no reason. His aggressive support for the overthrown Bakiyev and the persistence to continue to call him as the current president is a direct interference in the internal affairs of Kyrgyzstan and leads to an escalation of tensions in this country. Lukashenko is drawing Belarus in showdown of the Central Asian clans, what is absolutely unnecessary for our European country».

According to the politician, it is perfectly clear that «the president has no answers to economic problems and challenges, and he uses every opportunity to distract people’s attention from urgent issues»

«This is why he needs a little scandal with Bakiyev. But Belarus does not need either bakiev or chavez, or ahmadinejad», Andrei Sannikov said. «Belarus must be in Europe and to behave in accordance with European rules of conduct. Only this way, our country will be able to solve its economic problems and thus build normal and mutually beneficial relations with all former republics of the Soviet Union. And it will happen in the near future».
