Semashko Has Found a Strategic Investor for MAZ

First Vice-Premier of Belarus, Vladimir Semashko, said that he has recently held talks with a major foreign company, which is ready to become a strategic investor for Minsk Automobile Plant. Also, deputy head of the government stated that Naftan holding of shares to be sold in exchange for strategic investment to Rosneft and Lukoil companies.

«I do not deny that we are negotiating with Rosneft and Lukoil, discussing their coming to Naftan as strategic investors», Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus said at a meeting of the national council for labour and social affairs in Minsk, the web-site of the Union State informs.

According to Vladimir Semashko, in accordance with the terms of Belarusian side, in exchange for Naftan shares Russian companies will have to «not only guarantee investment in the oil refinery, but also have outlets for products, comply with social obligations and be ready to bring modern technologies to the enterprise».

At the same time, as the First Deputy Prime Minister noted, while Rosneft and Lukoil do not agree with these terms so far, and «we are forced to bear a burden of our oil refinery companies’ modernization».

«Belarusian Oil Refineries (JSC Naftan and Mozyr Oil Refinery) annually invest about 150-200 million dollars in the modernization, as a result it is expected that by 2013 oil refining intensity will amount to 92-93% against current 70-72%», deputy head of Belarusian government informed.
