Sidorsky Expects Creation of CES Earlier than Planned

Belarus expects to form the Common Economic Space (CES) of the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan earlier than planned. "The President set a task to resolve the issue by January 1, 2012. I think that we will solve it earlier," Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky said on September 24 in Riga at a meeting with the representatives of Latvian business circles.

Prime Minister of Belarus noted that the legal basis for creating the CES of the Customs Union plan to prepare by January 1, 2011. According to Sergei Sidorsky, creation of the CES will determine the future direction of cooperation among the CU members in the energy area. The issue of access to energy resources will also be solved, BelTA informs.
Analyzing the development of the Belarusian economy in recent years, Sergei Sidorsky said that the country has created more than 200 new export-oriented enterprises. Now seeks to increase their number. «This will be the products of the fifth and sixth technological way,» the prime minister said.
Head of the government also said, that Belarus intends to realize a great program to liberalize the economy, thanks to which the country plans to enter the top thirty countries with the most favorable conditions for doing business. «We have set ourselves these ambitious goals,» Sergei Sidorsky said.
Privatization in Belarus is pointed, Sidorsky
According to Sergei Sidorsky, the privatization in Belarus is pointed. Belarusian specialists are advised on privatization by the international experts, including from the IMF.
The Prime Minister of Belarus said, that in Belarus not only deep liberalization of regulatory framework was carried out, but working methods with each investor were also improved. Now, any potential investor can register his company for the shortest possible time. Steps are being taken to develop tax system as well, which is expected to be in line with European standards soon.
The Prime Minister expects the National Investment Agency to attract additional investments to Belarus.»Each investor will be looked after by the Investment Agency   until his enterprise starts working», Sergei Sidorsky said.
The Prime Minister also added that Belarus plans to expand its export markets in the next few years. Today, the country trades with 160 countries.
