Sidorsky Guarantees Oil Supplies Through Ukraine in 2011

Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky publicly assured in 2011 to supply Ukraine with the necessary volume of oil to run the Odessa-Brody pipeline in the project (reverse) mode. It was stated by the Head of the Belarusian government at a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister Andrii Kliuyev.

Sergei Sidorsky noted that neighboring states promptly resolved the issue of oil supplies through Ukraine. «We confirm the seriousness of this long-term delivery,» the prime minister underlined.

Sergei Sidorsky also explained that Belarus is gradually coming to supplies diversification. Republic has been developing those wells, which are referred to long-term use in Venezuela, other regions are also set in active work, including the African continent and in Asia, BelTA informs.

Belarus to Provide 9 Million Tons of Oil Transit Through Ukraine

According to the Minister of Transport and Communications of Ukraine Konstantin Efimenko, in 2011 Belarus undertook to ensure 9 million tons of oil transit through Ukraine, thus holding to the main term of the Ukrainian side to run the Odessa-Brody pipeline in the reverse mode, AFN.

Andrii Kliuyev, in turn, stressed that Belarus and Ukraine «have made significant progress» in the energy sector. Deputy Prime Minister noted that cooperation in the energy sector has played a significant role in the growth of bilateral trade in the first half of 2010. «We are ready to work in the future, particularly in question of Venezuelan oil transit through Ukraine,» Andrii Kliuyev said.

«But in regard of the volume of oil for next year everything must be clear. Then we can build the most efficient for both countries working process. I think by the end of November we’ll be aware of the transshipment volume,» Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine added.

In addition, Andrii Kliuyev expressed the hope for both sides to «bring to its logical end the creation of joint venture for oil products marketing in Ukraine.»
