Sidorsky Offered SES Compromise to Russia

Creation of Single Economic Space (SES) of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan will be a new and unprecedented step in the economic integration of the former Soviet Union, Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky says. "The Belarusian delegation intends to accept compromise solutions," the prime minister underlined at the working meeting of prime ministers of the three countries in Moscow on October 15.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, in his turn, expressed confidence for the parties to find a mutually beneficial outcome in the SES formation of three countries. «It is clear that each side has its own stance, but our task is to bring them to a common denominator, — Vladimir Putin said. — I am confident that we will find a mutually beneficial outcome,» BelTA informs.

Russian Prime Minister said that the parties were to prepare 17 agreements to form the SES legal base by January 1. «Eight, in principle, have already been prepared except for some finishing strokes,» Vladimir Putin said.

The agreement on common principles of technical regulation, the harmonization of macroeconomic policies, implementation of procurements, common principles of competition, rules of agriculture and industry support, combating illegal migration agreements were enumerated among the documents prepared by the head of the Russian government.

However, the parties still have to agree on a number of documents relating to oil and gas, electricity and rail industries.

«CES should provide common rules for companies. The business of any of our countries should feel at home,» Vladimir Putin said.

Union Council of Ministers Decided on 32 Questions for Half an Hour

Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State lasted an unprecedented short time. Discussion of 32 issues on the agenda of the participants took less than an hour.

«The agenda has been worked out by experts so thoroughly that we’ve had no outstanding issues before the meeting. All issues have been discussed previously in details both at a meeting of joint boards and at bilateral meetings,» the Secretary of the Union State Pavel Borodin commented.

At the same time on all 32 issues on the agenda resulted in a positive solution, Pavel Borodin added.

Agenda included questions on the implementation of joint anti-crisis plan, the basic parameters of the draft Union State budget for 2011, the draft concept of social development of the Union State until 2015. In addition, it was planned to adopt a series of new joint programs, and discuss a complex of issues in the sphere of military-technical cooperation and other relevant topics.
