"Silent" Action Participants Fined $140 for "Hooliganism"

Thursday, June 23, the Tsentralni district court of Minsk sentenced five protesters of silent solidarity to heavy fines, which was held yesterday. For example, Alexander Kulbun was convicted of "hooliganism" (Part 1 of Art. 17 of the Code of Administrative Violations). A young man is obliged to pay a fine of 20 basic units - Br700 thousand or about $140.

All the five detainees spent the night in jail in Akrestsina street, according to the human rights center «Viasna.» It’s not reported, however, what fines the other four were sentenced to.

There are 8 people, arrested on June 22, in the Savetski district court of the capital at the moment and another 4 in the Partyzanski district court (Sergei Konopliannikov, Dmitri Kozak, Dmitri Belyh, Maksim Rohovoi).

Maksim Cherniavski, Andrei and Aleksei Dvoretkie, as well as another unknown participant of the action, are awaiting the trial in the Leninski district court of Minsk. According to the preliminary data, 15 people will be summoned in court.

As Telegraf previously reported, evening, June 22, police detained more than 200 people during the crackdown on the action of silent solidarity in Minsk. As a result, according to updated figures, more than 460 people were detained in different cities of Belarus.
