Minsk city authorities have organized a youth disco at Kastrychnitskaya Square at 18:00 to 21:00 on June 29. The campaign, "Revolution through social networks" is convinced that the authorities are trying to prevent the regular silent protest, held every Wednesday over the last month.
The action’s organizers consider it a «provocation of the authorities.» «In this simple way the authorities try to resist our action — disguising it under a formal event to tell then on pseudo TV about the national support. It’ll obviously involve provocation,» said one of the organizers of the «revolution through social networks.»
Meanwhile, a certain student of some Minsk educational establishment reported that the administration had been ordered to forward 100 students — supporters of the president from among the members of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, to Kastrychnitskaya Square on June 29. According to the young man, those students would have to «counteract the participants of the so-called «silent» campaign,» reports «Narodnaya Volia.»
Organizers of the action urge people, supporting the silent campaign in the evening, not to succumb to provocations.
A similar call was voiced by President Alexander Lukashenko. Addressing June 28 to graduates of the Belarusian universities at the national ball, Alexander Lukashenko, asked young people «not to succumb to any provocations and adventures, but be true patriots, honest and responsible citizens of their country.»
