President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, changed the plans for the construction of "Student Village" residential complex on Dzerzhinskogo avenue near the Medical University in Minsk. Firstly of all, he postponed its construction's completion date from 2011 to 2012. The President also fully exempted Minsk from financing the village construction, entrusting it to the national budget.

Now, 80% of student village building will be paid from the national budget, including 40% to be allocated from the state targeted budgetary fund of national development, Ezhednevnik informs.

The construction of student village was begun in summer of 2008. Estimated project cost was 700 billion rubles. The first students’ hostel was commissioned in late 2009, and seven buildings more were planned to be constructed by the end of 2011.

Originally, it was planned that the main costs for the construction of the village will be takem by foreign investors. However, in late 2009, Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree, according to which, 40% of the cost should be paid by Minsk, 40% — by the national budget, while the remaining 20% were equally distributed among regions.
