Students of military educational institutions, expelled for insubordination or unwillingness to continue their education, will be obliged to compensate the state the costs for their education, because of non-performance of the contract, amounting to 70 million rubles (about 23.1 thousand dollars). As reported in Belarus' General Prosecutor's Office, this is the estimated cost of full period of training in military universities.
It also applies to officers who have not spent the five-year period at the officer’s service after the graduation of full-time education in military university. In General Prosecutor’s Office reported that the mentioned expenses are typical costs of food, clothing, communal services, teachers’ salaries, scholarships and other arising from the peculiarities of military service and training of military specialists.
«The funds are reimbursed in proportion with the term of education and duration of military service after graduation. In the case of money reimbursement rejection they are recovered in the court», emphasized in General Prosecutor’s Office.
For this reason, in order to return the money spent on training of students and officers who have not served the term of contract service and are not willing to obtain higher military education for various reasons, Belarusian Military Prosecutor’s Office organized collaboration with military units and formations for mutual exchange of information on dismissed soldiers and students expelled from military universities.
One of the expelled students have already been ordered to pay 6.6 thousand dollars
As noted in General Prosecutor’s Office of Belarus, military prosecutors would file lawsuits to the courts against such persons what had already taken place. Thus, the military prosecutor to oversee the legality of the border service agencies sued in favor of the State Border Committee of Belarus to the court of Frunzensky district of Minsk for the recovery from a former student over 20 million rubles (6.6 thousand dollars), spent on his education.
The district court of the capital satisfied the claims of the military prosecutor in full amount.
