Sugar Rises in Price by 20% From the Beginning of the Year

Belarusian Ministry of Economy on the proposal of Belgospischeprom Concern increases fixed retail prices of sugar by an average of 5%, from March 30. Since the beginning of 2010, it will be the third sugar prices' increase, which rose by an average of 5% from 27 February. And before that — at an average of 10%, from January 28, 2010. 

As explained in the Ministry of Economy, the current rise in prices of sugar is caused by «higher retail prices for sugar emerging in neighboring states» and held «in order to improve the financial status of sugar — processing organizations».
 
In addition to the retail prices of sugar, according to the decree № 56  of the Ministry of Economy on March 23, «On Making Changes in the Decree of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus № 157 on  September 30, 2009», the minimum selling price for the realization for industrial processing increased by 5%.

«The retail price of sugar by weight will be 2.59 thousand rubles per kilogram, of the packed in one- kilogram plastic or paper bags — 2.84 thousand rubles», informed in the Ministry of Economy.
