Evaluation of the trial against the accused of involvement in the riots on December 19, 2010 by international experts should be objective and balanced. This was stated by deputy chairman of the Supreme Court of Belarus Valeri Kalinkovich at the meeting with members of the OSCE / ODIHR mission on March 11.

As reported in the Supreme Court at the meeting with Valeri Kalinkovich, Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE ODIHR) was represented by the head of the Department of Human Rights Snezhana Bokulich, an expert on human rights Peter Victor Ullom, as well as deputy chief Management of European Cooperation, Head of the OSCE and the Council of Europe, Belarusian Foreign Ministry Alexander Opimakh.

Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court emphasized that any extra-judicial evaluation of criminal cases «should be interpreted as pressure on the court, which is unacceptable.» Valeri Kalinkovich explains that the assessment of the circumstances of the criminal case and a decision on this case, based on the law of Belarus, is the exclusive competence of the court.

The Supreme Court also informed that the OSCE / ODIHR experts expressed their desire to cooperate fruitfully with the Supreme Court. Valeri Kalinkovich, in turn, supported the proposal.
