The Belarusians' Debt to Banks is 4.57 Billion Dollars

According to the National Bank, the total debt of the population to Belarusian banks on March 1, 2010 totaled 13.5 trillion. rubles (or 4.57 billion dollars). Furthermore, since the beginning of the year, the amount of arrear debt has increased — at the average, it increased by 0.2% and amounted to 0.6% of total loans granted to the public.

The National Bank reported, that the index is also  growing  due to the fact that the citizens obtaining the loan does not calculate their actual incomes and take this loan, which amount of payments actually exceeds financial capabilities, Respublika informs.

In Republican association of consumer cooperatives of financial mutual aid, where has been recently conducted a market study of «small» consumer credit, they came to a disappointing conclusion. The record holder for overpayment is International Reserve Bank. A loan of one million rubles, issued in the bank at a rate of 12% per annum plus additional payments, in the final result forms the effective rate on loans of 109.24%.

However, other banks are not much inferior to the leader. For example, a loan for the same amount in MTBank and Belarusian Industrial Bank under 17% per annum have a result of 99.71% and 106.91% per annum. Even one of the leaders in the consumer credit market, Priorbank, is not very profitable partner in obtaining small loans. Million of rubles loan here is «make the grade» of 97.91% of effective interest rate.
