Political factions of  EU agreed on a resolution on Belarus. European parliamentarians also did not leave without attention the threat of sanctions. "Giving great weight to the process of liberalization of political and public life in Belarus, the European Parliament stresses that continued violation of human rights and fundamental rule of law in Belarus can lead to a revision of EU attitude to Belarus, including return to the policy of sanctions", -  the resolution states.

The most important provision of the document is the requirement to Belarusian authorities to recognize the Union of Poles in Belarus headed by Anzelika Borys, and to return organization’s property. The draft resolution also stipulates the requirement to release political activists Andrei Bandarenka, Artem Dubski and Ivan Mihailau from prison.

The European Parliament also calls on the Belarusian authorities to register the human rights center «Viasna» and BCD, legalization of  which was many times denied , PAP news agency reported.

The resolution also supported the policy of openness and dialogue between EU and Belarus, however, upon condition that such dialogue will lead to improvements in human rights sphere in the country.

The European Parliament reminds official Minsk about  perspectives which would have Belarus if it will respect democratic norms. The resolution notes that the country could count on signing of an agreement on cooperation and partnership with the European Union, financial assistance to the EBRD, the European Investment Bank, as well as support in obtaining regular IMF loans.
